Kikole Hati: Carriers of God’s Goodness

Dear Awesome and Children to Come,

On Sunday, 2 March 2025, I joined our church service online and was deeply moved by a powerful sermon from Rev. Misuseera Mukaddeayigga on the theme “Carriers of God’s Goodness.” The message, drawn from 2 Kings 6:1-23 and Luke 4:16-21, reminded us that God’s very nature is goodness and that as His children, we are called to embody that goodness in holiness, righteousness, and justice.

  • God is holy – “Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Exodus 15:11). In Him, there is no darkness.
  • God is righteous – He commands what is perfect and delights in righteousness. He sets the standard for what is right and just.
  • God is just – He administers His law fairly, without partiality. Justice is at the foundation of His kingdom.

At the core of all this, God is love (1 John 4:8). We are created in His image, called to walk in holiness (1 Peter 1:16), act justly (Micah 6:8), and pursue righteousness. We are not only to speak about justice but to practice it daily. Jesus affirmed this in Luke 4:18, showing that justice is central to His ministry.

Elisha demonstrated what it means to carry God’s goodness by using his God-given gifts to serve others (2 Kings 6:5). Whatever we have—our skills, resources, and opportunities—should be used for God’s glory and to help those in need.

Walking in God’s goodness does not mean a life free from trouble. 2 Kings 6:16 reminds us that “those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Even in the face of opposition, we are called to bless, not curse (Romans 12:14-20). Jesus demonstrated this at the cross, asking for forgiveness for those who crucified Him.

God consistently deals with us in love and asks us to do the same—even to our enemies. Christ bore our sins on the cross, offering us the ultimate example of goodness. Without Jesus, it is impossible to walk in holiness, righteousness, and justice. But when we surrender to Him, He empowers us to live as true carriers of God’s goodness.

May we always remember that whatever we have is meant to serve others and glorify God. Let’s be carriers of His goodness in all we do.

Your loving father,

Tukundane Yonna
