Kikole Hati: Returning a Blessing for an Insult

Dear Awesome and Children to Come,

Today, Sunday, 23 March 2025, I attended the Simeon & Anna’s Day Sunday Service at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero—virtually from home. The service was led by the seniors in church, with Dr. Charles Wycliffe Matsikodelivering a powerful sermon on the theme “Returning a Blessing for an Insult,” drawn from 1 Peter 3:8-9 and Luke 6:27-36.

We are often faced with situations where we are insulted, mistreated, or wronged. Our human nature pushes us toward revenge, but today’s message reminded us that as Christians, we are called to respond with kindness, bless instead of curse, and love even our enemies.

Key Takeaways from the Sermon:

  • Reconciliation is always possible – It is never too late to mend broken relationships.
  • We are called to be the salt and light of the world (Matthew 5:13) – Our presence should bring Christ’s influence wherever we go.
  • Vengeance belongs to God (Deuteronomy 32:5) – We must trust God to handle justice.
  • Overcome evil with good (Romans 12:19-21) – Instead of retaliating, we are called to show love.
  • Our fallen nature makes forgiveness difficult – That is why we need Jesus to remind us and strengthen us.
  • The voice of God calls us to submission – To Christ, the church, and one another.

How Can Christians Age Gracefully?

  • 🙏 Be purposeful – Psalm 90:12
  • 😊 Have a positive attitude
  • 📖 Keep learning
  • 🤝 Stay engaged – Romans 8:39

This message challenges us to live differently, to extend grace even when it’s undeserved, and to trust God’s justice rather than seeking our own. May we strive to reflect God’s love and mercy in all our interactions.
