Dear Awesome and Children to Come,
On Sunday, 06 April 2025, I sat under the teaching of Rev. Dr. Ben Tumuheirwe, who preached a moving sermon titled “God’s Goodness: Demonstrated in Redemption” based on John 3:16–21.
I joined this service virtually at 12 noon, during a 3-hour boat journey back to Mayuge District. At one point, we were stuck on the lake for 18 minutes when the engine failed. But in that moment of stillness, the message became even more real—reminding me that even when we are stuck, God’s goodness is not.
The sermon opened with a skit—a visual act that was both welcome and very powerful. It brought the theme to life before a single word of the sermon was spoken, drawing everyone in and preparing our hearts to receive the message.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” This familiar verse came alive again as Rev. Tumuheirwe reminded us that none of us has the power to save ourselves. Our hope rests entirely in what God has already done through Christ. Paul describes this human helplessness clearly in Galatians 3:11—that no one is justified before God by the law.
What stood out most to me was this: Goodness is not a product manufactured in a factory. The goodness of God is a divine gift, released through Jesus for a world that didn’t—and still doesn’t—deserve it.
God’s goodness is not just an abstract idea; it is revealed in the person of Jesus. Through His life, death, and resurrection, the full heart of God is made visible. And in that goodness, we find the promise of redemption.
But we were also challenged: Are we ready for revival? Rev. Tumuheirwe cried out for a revival so real that men and women will see the light, admit they were wrong, and return what they took. That’s what redemption should lead to—transformation so deep it rewrites stories and restores what was broken.
As I listened, I felt both convicted and hopeful. If we truly grasp God’s goodness, we’ll stop striving and start surrendering. We’ll stop hoarding and start healing. Because the One who gave His Son for us is still calling us back to His heart.
May we never forget that redemption is God’s loudest act of love. And His goodness? It’s not just available—it’s pursuing us.
