Dear Awesome and Children to Come,
On Sunday, 20 April 2025, I attended Easter Sunday service led by The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda. The theme was “Jesus’s Resurrection—Our Hope for Today”, drawing from Matthew 28:1–15 and 1 Corinthians 15:12–19.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our Christian faith. It is not just a historical moment but the foundation of our hope for today and tomorrow. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, emphasized that without the resurrection, our faith is meaningless and our preaching is in vain.
The empty tomb is the ultimate evidence of Christ’s victory over death. Jesus appeared to the women at the tomb (Matthew 28:9–10), to two walking to Emmaus (Luke 24:13), to the disciples—even in Thomas’s absence (John 20:19–29), and again by the shores of Galilee. Paul affirms that over 500 believers witnessed the risen Lord. Later, He ascended into heaven (Luke 24:50–51).
Despite all this, the body of Jesus has never been found, because He rose—conquering death and the grave. This truth affirms that the grave is not our final home. Because He lives, we too shall live.
Archbishop Kazimba reminded us that accepting Jesus must be intentional and personal. Many grow up in church but not in Christ. Many know hymns, but not Him. Salvation cannot be delegated. It is a choice each person must make for themselves.
This Easter calls us to transformation. To live not just in the memory of the resurrection, but in its power. Eternal life begins now, and our lives must reflect that truth. The resurrection is not just something we celebrate—it is the reason we live.
